Pakistan: Target killing of Ahmadis intensifies in Karachi

Ahmadiyya Times Update: With corrective information received from a source close to the victim, Mr Sidiqui was 28 years old and had gotten married just a few week ago.

Rabwah: The report of another Ahmadi “shot dead in a planned and organised target killing campaign against Ahmadis in Karachi,” is confirmed by the Ahmadiyya community of Pakistan in a press release.

23 years old Muhammad Ahmad was shot to death when he was leaving his place of business in Gulistan-e Jauher area of Karachi, the press release further reported.

Victim was with his bother-in-law on a motorbike when two unknown assailants shot them, the community said.

While Muhammad Ahmad lost his life on the spot, his brother-in-law Shams Fakhri, 45 is fighting for his life in a critical condition at a local hospital.

The community says it is third Ahmadi to lose his life as a result of “an organised and well-orchestrated campaign that is following an extensive hate filled wall chalking and hate material campaign.”

In recent days, an Ahmadi Mr. Muhammad Nawaz was shot dead in similar fashion on 12 September; and another Ahmadi Mr. Abdul Ghaffar was shot dead on September 7.

This is the sixth Ahmadi who lost his life in Karachi this year as part of the on going persecution because of the victims’ faith.

The press release said that Mr. Muhammad Ahmad was not known to any personal animosity with anyone but he was receiving threats from last many months because of his faith.

The spokesperson of Ahmadiyya community in Pakistan, Saleem ud Din, expressed profound grief over the incident saying, “23 is not the age for a young man to die but it is the age to serve humanity and the country.”

“He was an innocent citizen of this country whose life was taken because he was an Ahmadi,” Saleem ud Din said. “This vicious cycle of hate and death has to stop before it completely destroys the core fabric of our society which it has started to in a way.”

Saleem ud Din said Ahmadis are continuously being deprived of their right to live peacefully and practice their faith being  citizens of Pakistan.

Mr. Saleem ud Din urged the police and law enforcement agencies d to investigate this brazen attack and bring the culprits to justice.
