Telling the truth should be news – If it happened, it will be here…

USA: Opinion | Patience is the answer to anti-Islam movie, not violence

I, along with the rest of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community strongly condemn these acts of violence against the U.S. Embassies in Libya, Egypt and other parts of the Middle East including the senseless murders of U.S. Ambassador to Libya, J. Christopher Stevens and his staff.

Once again parts of Middle East are embroiled in violence as a result of an anti-Islam movie that no one even heard of a week ago. Instead of ignoring this nonsensical movie, the very Muslims who claim to love and honor Muhammad, founder of Islam, are themselves the cause of violence and senseless killings of innocent people.

This is against the true teachings of Islam. Prophet Muhammad was never the instigator of violence nor did he ever ask his followers to kill innocent people. On the other hand, he always asked his followers to be patient no matter what the circumstance. There are many instances in the early history of Islam where the Prophet Muhammad and his followers were harassed, beaten and even killed but they never responded with violence. For instance, once Prophet Muhammad was visiting the city of Taif, which is about 90 kilometers from Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The town’s people harassed, mocked and even beat him with rocks till he was bleeding from head to toe. Once he crossed the outskirts of the city, he decided to rest. An angel came to him and asked if he wanted the angel to crush the town by moving the mountains which surrounded the city in a way that they would engulf the entire city.

Muhammad replied, “Nay, their children might yet worship the true God.” According to a hadith (saying of Prophet Muhammad), he said “Patience in the face of a hurt increases one’s honor.” This was the response that Muhammad gave whose followers now claim that they will kill anyone who insulted him in any way. Respect, honor, love and esteem for someone come from the heart. Force can shut mouths, create terror and result in disrespect and irreverence. This is why the Quran takes a positive view in matters of the heart.

As regards to the respect for the Prophet Muhammad, Quran says: “Verily, those who malign Allah and His Messenger – Allah has cursed them in this world and in the hereafter and has prepared for them an abasing punishment.” (33:58)

The Quran does not say that if someone defames or slanders Prophet Muhammad, Muslims should seek revenge by killing or hurting them. Instead, the Quran clearly states that it is up to God to determine their punishment.

Therefore, as a Muslim woman who believes in the Messiah, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian, India and a member of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, I would like to assure my fellow North Texans that these so called Muslims who have committed these murders do not represent the true and peaceful teachings of Islam. All religions have faced insults and denigration, but that’s no justification for violence. As Secretary Clinton said the great religions of the world are stronger than any insults heaped at them.

These massacres go against the basic teachings of all religions.
