CWN – A Pakistani court has postponed a ruling on the blasphemy charges against Rimsha Masih, the young girl who was accused of blasphemy.

The High Court in Islamabad announced that it would rule November 14 on a motion to dismiss the charges against the accused girl. The motion to dismiss the charges is supported by testimony from three people who say that the evidence against the girl was planted by a Muslim leader.

While Christians (aided by human-rights activists) have called for the immediate release of Rimsha Masih, Islamic militants have sought to postpone a judicial decision—to date, successfully.

Previously, three witnesses whose testimony had supported Rimsha Masih, the 14-year-old Christian girl accused of burning pages of the Qur’an, have recanted.

The three had told police that they had seen a Muslim cleric ripping pages out of the Qur’an in an effort to plant evidence against Masih. A fourth witness, however, has not recanted his initial testimony to police.
