Ghana: Nunu Sports Festival Rocks Bolga, W


Earlier, the Wa Stadium hosted 24 first cycle schools (4,200 school children) when the competition’s train stopped for the two-day event which saw Tendamba and JSS winning the ultimate prize. TI Ahmadyya & JHS followed with Kojo Manu distinguishing himself to grab the best goalkeeper award.

The Nunu Sports Festival train left positive impressions on the minds of the youth in Wa and  Bolgatanga when it stopped on separate dates for the talent hunt competition.

Last Thursday, the people of Bolga and its environs had their turn of the competition which drew a little over 60 schools ( 9,200 pupils)  to the Bolgatanga Stadium.

It was Gambibgo Primary School that emerged winners in the primary school category with TI Ahmadiyya following. Bukere Primary’s Abdulai Ibrahim was adjudged the discovery player in the primary division, while Asaaba Ayinu, Gambusai Primary finished as the Most Valuable Player.

The Junior High School category saw Abilba No 1 School picking the ultimate prize after beating Grace Preparatory 4-3 on penalties.

Emmanuel Asare picked the Best Goalkeeper award with Yaro Peter  won the youngest player award. George Ayine and Stephen Anafo won the Most Valuable Player Award and top scorer awards respectively.

Schools and individuals who excelled received trophies, certificates, Nunu products, Erke Sports kits, Nunu Instant Noodles as well as one year scholarship programs at NIIT.

Member of Parliament for Wa Central Rashid Pelpuo praised the organizers of the competition Nunu Milk profusely for the initiative. He revealed that it will go a long way to unearth great soccer talents to feed the various national soccer teams in future.

The competition, which has assumed a national status, is put together by Djan Wilteh 7 Associates and sponsored by Nunu Milk, NIIT, Erke Sports and Indomie Instant Noodles.
