CHINO – The Baitul Hameed Mosque hosted an Eid festival to mark the end of the Hajj on Friday, October 26th.

The Pilgrimage, called the Hajj, and considered the 5th pillar of Islam, draws several million Muslims annually to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

The Hajj is a three-day event which includes slaughtering of animals to feed the poor and kins.

The sermon began at 10 a.m. on Friday which marked the day after the end of the Hajj, and several hundred local area Muslims gathered to celebrate the Hajj by attending the Eid festival  prayers and sermon at the Chino mosque.

Participants arrived early to obtain seating inside the men’s and women’s prayer halls, and additional prayer areas for overflow attendees were available on-site.

Refreshments were served after the sermon.

The Eid prayer was led by Imam Shamshad A. Nasir, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s S.W. regional  missionary for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of the United States.

After leading the prayer, Imam Shamshad delivered a detailed sermon, focusing on the spiritual aspects of the yearly commemoration of this Abrahamic tradition and to safeguard the community and the children from the evils and temptations in today’s society.

The regular Friday prayers were also offered at 12:30 p.m. and majority of the morning attendees had stayed   around for the prayers.
