AN international Islamic non-governmental humanitarian organisation, Humanity First International, Nigeria chapter and Ahmadiyya Muslim community have donated drugs, first aid items, food and other sundry items to victims of flood disasters across Nigeria.

The first donation was made to the Kogi State government in Lokoja last Friday by the chairman of the group, Dr Yakeen Habeeb and the head, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Nigeria, Dr Mashood Fasola.

In a move that gave the flood victims hope, the head of Ahmadiyya, did not only sympathise with the flood victims but also prayed for their succor victims in Lokoja and the Nigerian government on the irreparable loss of lives and properties   across the country.

It would be recalled that in the last few weeks, flood had sacked many communities in Lokoja area and other parts of the country  closed to River Niger.

Several houses, farmlands, schools, churches, mosques, hospitals and other official infrastuctures have been submerged; while many people displaced.

Dr. Fashola said the groups were moved by the plight of the people and therefore decided to make their own contributions to alleviate their sufferings.

He told them to be steadfast in the way of Allah, as He, the Almighty would soon give them cause to smile again.

He also appealed to the government to expedite efforts towards rehabilitating the affected flood victims, while promising that the body would extend   kind gestures to other states affected by the flood.

It should be recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan recently inaugurated the National Committee on Flood Relief and Rehabilitation, to raise fund to augment government’s efforts at mitigating the effect of the disaster.
