The volunteers from Bangalore branch of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community – under the banner of Humanity First, a community services NGO – participated alongside other organizations to set the new world record for the largest “Health Awareness” program at a single venue.

A total of 2621 people participated to set the record at the Palace Grounds, Bangalore, on Sunday, November 11.

The world record attempt was organized by a Danish pharmaceutical company, Novo Nordisk.

Appropriately titled “War on Diabetes,” the event was held in recognition of the “World Diabetes Day.”

A team of about 35 members from the various auxiliary organizations of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, headed by Dr. Syed Javaz, took a bus ride through Bangalore city to the venue.

Dr. Syed Javaz is a Senior Diabetologist and a member of the Banglore chapter of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was N Santosh Hegde, a former justice of the Supreme Court of India, who has also served as Solicitor General of India and was Lokayukta for Karnataka State of India.

Judge Hegde is currently a member of ‘TEAM ANNA,’ a nationwide anti-corruption movement lead by politician, Anna Hazare.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim community, in continuum, has planned to organize a Walkthon at Wilson Garden Bangalore.

The Walkathon will be followed by a Free Diabetes Detection and Awareness Camp at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mosque premises on Sunday, November 18th, to primarily express solidarity with the cause.

For the Ahmadiyya community, the community says, this a part of their Social Services agenda conducted in concert with Humanity First organization.

The Walkathon will be attended by members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, volunteers and staff from the hospitals, clinics in the area, neighbors, school children and other organizations.
