USA: Upland prayer breakfast celebrates unity of diversity

More than 75 people from various religious and civic organizations in the Inland Empire gathered in the early morning hours of Oct. 25 at the Upland Fire Station to promote and celebrate their unity in diversity.

This was the 17th annual Upland Prayer Breakfast sponsored by the Upland Interfaith Council.

Among the speakers were Imam Shamshad A. Nasir from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s Baitul Hameed Mosque in Chino, who recited in Arabic the first chapter of the Holy Quran followed by several prayers in Arabic from the Holy prophet Muhammad. These were translated into English for the benefit of the audience.

 The keynote speaker was Philip Clayton, Provost of Claremont Lincoln University which is part of the Claremont Mckenna family of colleges and is an inter-faith friendly seminary.
